VR Review

Although I did not get the VR headset, I do have an Oculus and I used that for this project.

The first thing I did on the Oculus was to "Walk the Plank." Being scared of heights, I knew it was going to be a crazy experience. But what I didn't know was the setting I chose-- Spider cake. Essentially, you walk to the end of the plank and eat cake, but spiders (specifically tarantulas) pop out at you. It was weird because although I knew it was just a game, it felt so real. When I fell off the plank, I truly felt like I was free-falling.

The second thing I did was go on a rollercoaster ride. I love coasters, and I have missed going on them since this pandemic had started. But luckily, I was able to experience it. I got the same rush I get on rollercoasters. Although this did not feel as real as walking the plank, I still felt like it gave a similar effect. I remember at one point I was even swaying as I was going around turns.

The third thing I did was go for a jetpack ride. To me, it was so boring. It didn't have the same effects as the others, so I did not like it as much. It got pretty old pretty quick, until I figured out how to skydive. The skydive part made the adventure more fun, but ultimately I don't think I would do it again.

The last thing I did was boxing. This was just a good old workout on the Oculus. Every punch I received, the headset would shake, so it felt that I was actually receiving the impact. It was fun to be able to punch another person, my arms were just getting tired. The scenery and fans looked so real, it felt that I was at a highlighted UFC fight on a Saturday night. There was even a setting where you could have fans cheer you on and chant your name, which made it feel that much more real. I really enjoyed this one and it had to be my favorite, even though it was a lot of work to accomplish things that needed to get done.

Design Review

Looking at the images has been really helpful to review Gestalt's rules and see them in action. Each one had a stand-out feature, making the sign pop to the viewer's eyes. My favorite was the guitar one because of how the colors and writing look together.

The five things I can do to improve my website or social media:

1. Continuity as a guidance and as something to follow

2. Proximity because it gives depth to my website or social media

3. Similarity to provide continuity and interest

4. Symmetry for balance

5. Using white space to my advantage because it can help mellow out and calm down social media/website.
